Completed in 2002, a joint venture between CHC, Canberra Investment Corporation and Pendon Constructions of 126 apartments and townhouses including 4 accessible units, and the David Street Wetlands in O’Connor. CHC’s office is located on the ground level in this development.

CHC retains 15 apartments for community and affordable housing rental.

Completed in 2004, this is a 28 apartment development targeting moderate income buyers and low/moderate income tenants. The project integrates affordable housing as part of the Gungahlin town center development.

CHC retains 4 apartments for rental at affordable rates.


Community Housing Projects Group House - Ainslie
Completed in 2005, this is suburban redevelopment of a house block to suit a group tenancy arrangement for three unrelated people, with shared facilities but private bedroom/living/ensuite for each tenant.

Partly funded by the Department of Disability, Housing & Community Services.


Community Housing Projects Big House - O’Connor
Completed in 2006, this project was the first triple occupancy development under the supported accommodation provision of the Territory Plan.

The building provides three tenancies but appears as one house, with a shared entry and laundry. The design maintains independence of occupants but provides a discreet level of mutual support.

Partly funded by the Department of Disability, Housing & Community Services.


Community Housing Projects Abbeyfield Disability - Curtin
Completed 2006, this is the first time that the international Abbeyfield model has been developed for people with a disability. The project will provide a home for 10 people and operate without recurrent funding.

The building design is based on Abbeyfield Society’s model for supportive housing, but was modified and adapted to incorporate the needs of people with disabilities.

Community Housing Canberra worked with the Abbeyfield committee to develop, design and deliver the project.

Funded by the ACT Department of Disability and Community Services as part of the Community Housing Capital Funding Program and land for the project was made available by the ACT Government.

Redevelopment Program
CHC has started to redevelop its existing housing to improve the quality and environment performance of its stock. Some 132 dwellings will be replaced over the next seven years. Houses are being upgraded and sites are being redeveloped for small scale multi-unit developments.
Affordable Housing Sales

In 2008-2009 CHC will commence building affordable housing for sale to moderate income households.

. Projects are currently being planned in Metros, Forde, Harrison and Franklin to provide studio, one and two bedroom apartments.
