CHC has a commitment to grow the numbers of affordable homes in Canberra as an integral part of the ACT Government's Affordable Housing Action Plan and will be working to increase the supply of affordable housing for both rent and sale. 

What is affordable housing?
Housing is generally considered affordable if the rent payable is no more than 30% of gross household income. To assist low to moderate income households achieve affordable housing, CHC manages over 150 homes for rental accommodation at 74.99% of market rent.

Eligibility - Rental

In order to be considered for housing with CHC ALL the criteria listed below MUST BE met.

 

1. Income Types

Your gross annual household income must fall within the following types (see table below). NOTE: Housing is generally considered affordable if the rent payable is no more than 30% of gross household income.

 

 

2. Housing Allocation

CHC allocated properties based on the following guidelines:

You must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia.

 

4. Home ownership

You must not own a residence.

 

Availability

Vacancies in affordable rental housing are advertised from time to time in the local media and on relevant web sites. You may contact CHC at any time to enquire about existing or expected vacancies.
